Dr. Emily Pfender, PhD Researcher, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, will discuss the proliferation of birth control on social media ranging from 2019 - present. The presentation will discuss how birth control misinformation has been linked to other women's health trends online, including post birth control syndrome and cycle syncing, and how it's associated with attitudinal and behavioral outcomes.

Dr. Pfender is a postdoctoral researcher for the AMETHIST project at the Perelman School of Medicine. Her research focuses on how social media and interpersonal messages impact reproductive health behaviors and outcomes, specifically examining underrepresented groups in the United States and Global South.
