About Us
In Dance Company, we assist in the development of an understanding and practice of performance in dance that expands within both your artistry and responsibility to rehearsals and concerts. We aim to facilitate a deepened understanding of choreography, with an opportunity to practice choreography with student work in the Spring Concerts. Dance Company will expand your exposure to dance techniques, traditions, and creative practice through master classes, creativity workshops, rehearsals, and performances. Additionally, it will foster community through collaboration, co-creation, supporting one another in the rehearsal process, and more. The F&M Dance program is committed to strengthening and developing our work as allies in the struggle for social justice, and as accomplices to disrupt patterns that reinforce institutionalized oppressions and inequities at F&M and beyond. We understand that action must be taken and that the labor is upon us, as faculty, to continually work toward reform. Dance itself is an action, and we believe in, practice, and teach dance as a mechanism for social change, for healing, for empowerment, for individual expression, for bringing beauty into the world, and for community-building. We are committed to cultivating a safe space for all voices in our classes and in our concerts, celebrating diversity, promoting inclusion, supporting mental health and wellness, and insisting on respect for each other.
